Accessibility Statement
Fiso Kinno Law Professional Corporation Last Updated: June 2025
Our Commitment
Fiso Kinno Law Professional Corporation is committed to ensuring that our website at fisokinnolaw.ca is accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to legal information and the ability to contact our firm without barriers.
We are working to make our website conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which is the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.
Accessibility Features
We have designed and built this Website with accessibility in mind. The following features are currently in place:
Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements, including navigation menus, buttons, and form fields, can be accessed and operated using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
Skip navigation link: A “Skip to content” link is available at the top of every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass the navigation menu and go directly to the main content.
Semantic HTML structure: Pages are built using proper HTML5 heading structure, landmark regions, and semantic elements to help screen readers and assistive technologies interpret content accurately.
Sufficient colour contrast: Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio requirements to ensure readability for users with low vision or colour vision deficiencies.
Readable fonts: We use clear, legible typefaces at sizes that support readability across devices.
Responsive design: The Website is fully responsive and functions correctly on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
Alt text for images: Meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so screen readers can skip them.
Form accessibility: All form fields are labelled clearly. Required fields are identified. Error messages are descriptive and programmatically associated with the relevant field.
ARIA labels: Where standard HTML semantics are insufficient, ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes are used to provide additional context for assistive technologies.
Reduced motion: The Website respects the user’s operating system preference for reduced motion, disabling animations for users who have enabled this setting.
Known Limitations
We are continuously working to improve accessibility across all areas of our Website. Some areas that are currently being reviewed or improved include:
- Older PDF documents linked from the Website may not be fully accessible. We are working to ensure new documents meet accessibility standards.
- Some third-party content or embedded tools may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We have limited control over third-party services but will work with providers to improve accessibility where possible.
Applicable Standards and Legislation
This Website aims to comply with:
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), including the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR)
- Canadian Human Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability
The AODA requires Ontario organisations to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards for websites and web content. We are committed to meeting and, where possible, exceeding these requirements.
